About Phoenix Advocacy Alliance

At Phoenix Advocacy Alliance, our organization is committed to combatting human trafficking by providing targeted support services and cultivating strategic community partnerships. While we acknowledge that complete eradication of this issue may not be feasible, we remain steadfast in our efforts to effect meaningful change in individuals’ lives. Our mission centers on equipping those actively engaged in anti-trafficking initiatives with essential resources and support.

We recognize the importance of collaboration and proactive community involvement. Through global partnerships, we aim to build a unified network that offers comprehensive survivor support and promotes public education regarding prevention methods and the critical role of advocacy.

Our initiatives are designed to address and systematically dismantle the underlying factors that facilitate human trafficking. By promoting greater awareness and advocating for social justice, we seek to contribute to the creation of a safer environment for all individuals, ensuring inclusivity and attention to every stakeholder in this crucial endeavor.

The Alliance Board Advisors

Ted Poe

The Honorable Ted Poe – Legislative Coordinator

The Honorable Ted Poe brings decades of distinguished public service and a deep commitment to justice to the Board of Directors of Phoenix Advocacy Alliance.

Before serving seven terms in the United States Congress, Judge Poe spent 22 years on the district court bench in Houston, Texas, where he presided over felony cases and became nationally recognized for his creative “poetic justice” sentences. Prior to his judicial service, he served as a prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for eight years, where he never lost a jury trial.

During his time in Congress, Congressman Poe was a co-founder of the Congressional Victims’ Rights Caucus and a leading advocate for legislation to combat human trafficking and protect survivors. He introduced and helped pass landmark bipartisan legislation, including the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, which strengthened support for victims and increased accountability for traffickers.

Judge Poe is a graduate of Abilene Christian University, a former educator, and a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserve. His lifelong dedication to justice, public service, and protecting the vulnerable makes him a valued leader in the fight against human trafficking.

Shawn Jones

Shawn Jones – Investing Coordinator

I have long felt a calling to support the fight against child trafficking, both in the United States and internationally, including in Nepal. Through my involvement with Phoenix Advocacy Alliance, I am committed to standing in the gap for the vulnerable helping raise awareness, support prevention efforts, and provide the resources needed for those on the front lines of rescue. I believe deeply in PAA’s mission not only to bring individuals out of trafficking, but to walk alongside them in their journey toward healing, restoration, and a renewed life filled with purpose and hope through God’s grace.

Woodie Williamson

Woodie Williamson – Application Review Coordinator

This is a field of work that I wish was not needed, however, there is no value for the ladies that are caught up in this despicable situation.   I am hoping that once this program is functioning strong enough to accept all those that need help, words will spread, so that any lady that needs help will receive it quickly.

This will not be a quick fix, but this program will build a Biblical foundation into the minds of these ladies, that will give them the tools to move into other areas of life that will be a lot more attractive, than what they have seen in the past.   We will help these ladies gain the skills that employers are looking for, which will provide the needed income and social contacts, that will change their lives for the better.   Once these ladies have the Biblical framework and secular work skills, their future will be bright, and their decision-making skills will be optimal.  At this point, we have accomplished what is needed.

Curtis Burton – Chairman of the Board

My background consists of 40+ years in all aspects of the oil and gas industry. I have been elected to the Oil and Gas Hall of Fame. And I am the founder of five companies.

But why anti-trafficking?

Most Americans live in a fantasy world where there is no slavery.  In fact, if you were to ask them, they would say it ended in 1865 and the slaves were freed.  In reality, it took 400 years 1500-1899) to enslave 12.5 million blacks from Southern Africa.

TODAY the US State department estimates there are 26.5 to 50 MILLION people caught up in trafficking, sexual or labor based, ANNUALLY.  ANNUALLY.

It is a worldwide scourge that has replaced gun running and drugs as THE most profitable enterprise in the modern world.  Sadly, America stands in the middle of this reality as both a user and dealer.

Worldwide if you are a trafficker, you have a better chance of being hit by lightning than to be prosecuted and jailed for trafficking.

WE, AS A CIVILIZED SOCIETY, OWE IT TO OUR COUNTRIES, OUR CHILDREN AND TO THESE VICTIMS TO AGGRESSIVELY DO ALL WE CAN TO FIGHT THIS SCOURGE.  THAT IS WHY PHOENIX EXISTS.
